We're More Than REALTORS^®

As a REALTOR®, giving back is part of who you are and what you do. LIBOR actively supports and creates opportunities for our members to make a meaningful impact. We achieve this by organizing volunteer initiatives in Queens, Nassau, and Suffolk counties throughout the year. Our commitment lies in fostering positive change by partnering with like-minded community organizations dedicated to improving our neighborhoods.

Community Volunteer Opportunities

Affordable Housing

LIBOR is committed to advocating for solutions that provide affordable housing and working with community partners such as Habitat for Humanity of Long Island to help in their mission to build strength, stability, and self-reliance through affordable homeownership, providing a permanent solution for families struggling to find a place to call home.

In honor of National Homeownership Month and REALTORS® Are Good Neighbors Volunteer Days taking place June 1-9, 2024, LIBOR is partnering with Habitat for Humanity of Long Island to help build a home for a deserving family.

LIBOR will host a LI REALTOR® Volunteer Build Day on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at a new home construction (location TBA). A total of 15 volunteers (skilled and unskilled labor) are needed to participate in this project. For more information or if you would like to volunteer for this REALTOR® build day, please email pr@lirealtor.com. Volunteers will be accepted in the order that they are received.

Preservation and Revitalization

LIBOR is dedicated to helping preserve and revitalize homes and communities across Long Island and Queens by working with organizations such as Rebuilding Together to restore the homes of economically disadvantaged homeowners.

In June 2024, LIBOR will team up with Rebuilding Together Long Island to host a LI REALTOR® Volunteer Build Day. A total of 10 volunteers (skilled and unskilled labor) are needed to help construct a wheelchair-accessible ramp for a neighbor in need in Massapequa, NY. For more information or if you would like to volunteer for this REALTOR^® build day, please email pr@lirealtor.com. Volunteers will be accepted in the order that they are received.

REALTORS^® Against Hunger (RAH)

Since 2008, LIBOR has spearheaded the REALTORS® Against Hunger (RAH) campaign, aiming to combat hunger within our local communities. This initiative has seen REALTORS® from across Long Island come together to raise funds, collect non-perishable food items, and raise awareness about food insecurity issues affecting Long Island residents.

Annually, LIBOR partners with organizations such as Island Harvest and City Harvest to support pivotal programs that strive to end hunger and reduce food waste in the region. Stay tuned for details on how you can join LIBOR's 17th Annual RAH campaign during the upcoming holiday season!

Community Care

LIBOR demonstrates care for our neighbors by supporting community programs that cater to at-risk children, the elderly, and other community members in need. Annually, LIBOR partners with Long Island Coalition for the Homeless as a proud sponsor of the Backpack Pirates, Back to School program to help vulnerable and economically disadvantaged youth secure the tools they need to succeed in school.

Looking for Ways to Make a Difference on Your Own?

Call your favorite nonprofit and ask what you can do to help.
Volunteer with your local Boys & Girls Club.
Organize a neighborhood cleanup.
Plan a meal tree for a neighbor in need.
Offer to walk the dogs at a shelter.
Offer your skill or hobby: sewing, coaching, teaching art.
Ask a school/place of worship/nonprofit if you can help garden, weed, or trim.
Sort donations at a thrift shop.
Gather a group to serve a thank-you lunch to first responders, teachers, and healthcare workers.
Assemble holiday gift bags for nursing home residents or kids in the hospital.
Plan a Career Day for high school students.

REALTOR^® Spirit Award

Are you or someone you know doing great work serving the community? We want to hear about it! LIBOR's REALTOR^® Spirit Award recognizes REALTORS^® who have made an extraordinary impact on their community, or on the national or world stage, through volunteer work charitable efforts, youth-related, or other activities that demonstrate outstanding commitment to community service. Through the REALTOR^® Spirit Award, one winner will receive a $5,000 grant for their community cause.
