2007 REALTOR® Spirit Award Recipients:

Nassau County Recipient - Susan Gruen Helsinger for her endless crusade for The Jason F. Gruen Research Foundation.  The Jason F. Gruen Research Foundation seeks to find a cure for idiopathic hypertrophic subaortic stenosis, a form of heart disease that can take a healthy young person's life without warning. Jason, the son of Susan, was a Manhasset High School sophomore who died from the disease.  In the spring of 2007 history was made with the culmination of the project of offering Echocardiograms to 8th grade students interested in participating in a sports program in the Bellmore-Merrick Central school district.

Suffolk County Recipient - Angela Parisi for her lifelong dedication to The Brentwood Foundation.  The Brentwood Foundation searches out families with medical needs and runs fundraisers to raise money to purchase wheelchair accessible vehicles for the family that is chosen. Angela, who is on the Board of Directors for the foundation and has successfully raised $65,000 per family and has worked tirelessly in all aspects of the fundraising events.


Queens County Recipient - Margaret Wagner for her constant commitment to the Broad Channel Athletic Club.  The Broad Channel Athletic Club is a non-for-profit youth organization, which provides sports in Broad Channel and the surrounding communities all year long for children, who range from the ages of 3 through 16 years old.  Margaret has been an active member for 20 years and was the first and only female President of the club.   It is extremely important to Margaret to keep the sports activities alive in her community since the neighboring schools do not provide any sport programs for the children.

These extraordinary recipients were awarded $1,000 to their charity or organization of choice at the 2007 LIBOR/MLS Appreciation and Recognition Breakfast at the Oheka Castle in Huntington on November 6th.   As a token of appreciation to all the applicants of the REALTOR® Spirit Award, it was agreed upon by the PR Committee to award a $100 donation to their respective charity of choice.
