September 2007 - West Babylon, NY -The Long Island
Board of Realtors® (LIBOR) has granted a $1,000
scholarship from
its newly formed scholarship program to Ashley Koretz of Garden City
to pursue her education within the real estate industry. Ms. Koretz
is presently a sophomore at Queens College.
The LIBOR Scholarship Program is a new initiative developed by the Long
Island Board of Realtors to recognize and support students from Queens,
Nassau and Suffolk Counties studying for a career in real estate. LIBOR
will be awarding three scholarships (one from each county) every school
year. “The Long Island Board of Realtors is committed to
supporting students studying for careers in real estate. Our new
scholarship program enables us to recognize those students who show promise
and potential to excel in our field,” said Frank Urso, Chairperson
of LIBOR’s Public Relations Committee. “The real estate
industry is both a challenging and often lucrative career choice, and
we need talented individuals such as Ashley that show considerable potential
to meet the demands of the ever changing real estate market in the New
York area,” Urso added.
“We’re delighted that a student from Queens College was
selected to receive this wonderful scholarship from the Long Island Board
of Realtors,” said Dr. Ross Wheeler,
Chief Administrator for the Office of Honors and Scholarships at Queens
College. “It’s gratifying to have our talented students
such as Ashley Koretz be selected to receive scholarships, because it
not only recognizes individual accomplishment, it also recognizes the
commitment of the college to providing avenues to valuable career choices
such as those within the real estate industry,” added Dr. Wheeler.
Ms. Koretz has already begun her career having recently earned her real
estate license. “I am very honored to have been selected by
LIBOR to receive this prestigious scholarship,” said Koretz. “The
funds granted to me will enable me to follow my career choice and to become
an effective professional within the real estate industry.”
