LIBOR Names 2008 REALTORĀ®-Broker of the Year
Donald Scanlon

2008 – West Babylon,
NY - The Long Island Board of REALTORS®, Inc. (LIBOR) is
pleased to announce that REALTOR®-Broker Donald Scanlon has been
named the recipient of the prestigious REALTOR®-Broker of the Year
award. The announcement was made recently at the association’s
Annual Installation and Awards Dinner held at the Crest Hollow Country
Club in Woodbury.
Donald Scanlon graduated from the University of Dayton in 1969 with
a degree in education, and started in the Real Estate business in 1984
as a part time agent while still teaching school. By 1986 he received
his Brokers License and became the manager of an office. In 1987
he became the Broker/Owner of Your Home Realty/Century 21 Your Home in
Wantagh, which then merged with Century 21 American Homes, where Don
remains one of the Broker/Owners.
Don has served as 2007 Multiple Listing Service (MLS) President, an
MLS Director from 1997 to 1999, 2002-2003, and MLS Treasurer in 2004,
and Vice President of Nassau for 2005 and 2006. He has and still
serves as a LIBOR Director since 2003, currently serving as LIBOR Treasurer. There
are many LIBOR and MLS Committees that Don has served on throughout the
years, such as Technology, Budget & Finance, Advertising, Rules,
Professional Standards, Legal Assistance, Governance, RPAC, Legislative,
and most recently, as Chairman of The Education Committee. He is
also a New York State Association of REALTORS® (NYSAR) Director since
2004. Don served as Vice Chairman for the State Associations Professional
Standards Committee in 2007.
Don holds the CBR, CRB & GRI real estate designations. He is
also a Notary Public and New York State Certified Instructor for Real Estate
Licensing and Continuing Education. In his free time, Don is an avid
boater and enjoys the waters surrounding Long Island.
