2009 MLSLI™ Leadership Named Frank Urso President

December 2008 - West Babylon, NY - The Multiple Listing Service of Long Island, Inc. (MLSLI™) has recently named a new Executive Committee. Leading the MLS of Long Island is incoming President, Frank Urso.  Urso was installed during the recent Installation Gala held at the Crest Hollow Country Club.

Frank Urso began his real estate career in 1989, after working for United Parcel Service for 20 years in varied management positions.  Upon his retirement, Frank started his Real Estate career working for Horan Duffy Realty in Syosset.  He earned his broker’s license in 1992 and in 1994; he and his wife Marilyn opened their own office in Syosset, named Long Island Village Realty.

Frank became actively involved in the Long Island Board of REALTORS®, Inc. (LIBOR) and MLS in 1998.  Frank has a high regard for education and holds the following prestigious designations: CBR, CRB, GRI, LTG, PMN, SRES, REP and most recently, the new NAR Green Designation.  His many accomplishments earned him recognition as LIBOR’s REALTOR®-Broker of the Year for 2002, the Community Service award for 2004 and the MLS Tasso Award for 2008.  He also served as Nassau North Shore Chapter President in 2000 and 2001, LIBOR Director from 2000-2002, MLS Zone 3 from 1999-2005 and currently serving as NYSAR Director since 2004.  Frank also serves on the following NYSAR committees:  Professional Standards, MLS, Member Services, Public Relations and Commission Escrow Act.  He has attended NAR conventions since 2002.

On the local Board level, Frank has chaired several committees: Grievance, MLS Internal Audit Committee, Budget and Finance, Public relations, Advertising and Marketing and the Awards Committee.  He has served as a member of the Education, Nominating, professional Standards, rules and Procedures, By-Laws, technology and Field Issues Task Force Committees.  Since 2005, Frank has been on the MLS Executive Committee as Treasurer and Nassau Vice President. 

Frank has been actively involved in his community and has held leadership positions with the Syosset Chamber of Commerce, the Order of the Sons of Italy in America, Kiwanis and several other local charities and organizations over the years. He received the 2001 Nassau Council of Chambers “Small Business Person of the Year Award” and the “2002 Syosset Chamber Person of the Year Award.”  He has been recognized by many civic and political leaders in the area for his contributions and dedication to the community.

Frank and Marilyn have been married for forty years and have three adult children; Susan King, Frank Jr. and Jamie.  Susan and Frank Jr. are licensed associate brokers and are an integral part of LI Village realty’s success.  Frank and Marilyn currently live in Huntington and enjoy vacationing, shopping and spending time with family and friends.
