- The Long Island Board of Realtors® (LIBOR) kicked off its Realtors® Against Hunger campaign with a record collection of food donations at Citibank Park in an effort to support several Long Island hunger relief organizations during a recent LI Ducks ball game. Realtors® Against Hunger (RAH) will be collecting donations of non perishable food items from September 1st – September 30th, at various real estate offices throughout Nassau, Suffolk and Queens to support Long Island Cares, The Harry Chapin Food Bank, Island Harvest, the Long Island Council of Churches and the Queens Federation of Churches, and other community pantries in their efforts to provide food to hundreds of local food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and other programs that feed the hungry. “With more than 300,000 children and adults facing hunger or potential malnutrition in the tri county region, LIBOR is responding to the needs of our communities,” said Buddy Hoosein, LIBOR President who threw a ceremonial first pitch during the opening of the Long Island Duck’s game. Over the course of the evening, LIBOR collected over 400 lbs of food donations which marks the start of their fight against hunger on Long Island.
Realtors Against Hunger is a part of the Long Island Board of Realtors® “We’re More Than Realtors®” initiative that supports numerous programs and charitable community organizations. Long Island Cares, The Harry Chapin Food Bank accepted donations of non-perishable food at the game. “The results were spectacular,” said Paule Pachter, Executive Director, Long Island Cares. “We’re very grateful to the Long Island Board of Realtors® and their Realtors® Against Hunger campaign that will support the work of our network of more than 540 member agencies that feed the hungry on Long Island.” explained Pachter.
