October 2009 - West Babylon, NY - Rain was not going to stop the Long Island Board of Realtors from ensuring that a 2009 Polo Event which honored the organization and benefited The Ronald McDonald House of Long Island was a phenomenal success. While the Polo match had to be cancelled, the Polo Party continued as hundreds of guests enjoyed an afternoon filled with plenty of festivities and an abundance of exquisite cuisine, great musical entertainment, auctions and plenty to do for children. There was even an appearance by Ronald McDonald himself. “As professional REALTORS, we are committed to supporting our neighbors who help others,” explained Carol Gallo-Turschmann, Chairperson, LIBOR’s PR Committee. “While we are honored to have been recognized by The Ronald McDonald House for our philanthropic efforts through the “We’re More Than Realtors” program, our efforts were concentrated on making a difference in the lives of the children that The Ronald McDonald House supports,” added LIBOR President Buddy Hoosein.

LIBOR’s “We’re More Than Realtors” initiative was created by LIBOR’s PR Committee, to support numerous programs and charitable community organizations throughout Long Island. The program is making a significant difference within our communities. In addition to the support provided to The Ronald McDonald, the organization recently kicked off its Realtors® Against Hunger campaign with a record collection of food donations at Citibank Park and its Realtors Against Hunger Campaign is underway to fight hunger on LI.

During the Polo Party, Ronald McDonald House recognized the Long Island Board of Realtors (LIBOR) for their extraordinary support of the organization. “Even though the weather forced us to change our program, it was still a great event,” said RMH-LI Executive Director Joanne Reda. “There are so many people to thank who worked tirelessly to make this event a success once again. In particular I would like to thank, the Long Island Board of Realtors, the Meadowbrook Polo Club, the Metropolitan of Glen Cove and Roslyn Savings Foundation for their hard work on behalf of our families.”
