May, 2009 – West Babylon, NY - Spirits, as well as auction cards, were high at the Long Island Board of REALTORS® Suffolk South Shore Chapter’s Annual Charity Fundraiser and Live Auction “Project Hope,” held on May 20th at Lily Flanagan's in Babylon Village.  Realtors® are well-known for their tremendous charity work throughout the Long Island community; in this case Autism United will be the benefactor of the approximately $10,000 that was raised from this event.  This event brought Realtors® and friends together, to support individuals and families living with Autism.  In recent years the Suffolk South Shore Chapter’s “Project Hope” events have supported organizations such as, Hospice Children's Bereavement Services, Sloan Kettering Hospital and local military battalions deployed overseas, just to name a few.

The Chapter was proud to support Autism United, which is an alliance of families and individuals affected by autism spectrum disorders working with professionals and organizations who serve the autism community.  Their effort begins with families working together to build community support, services and resources. Autism United will forge their collective strength to improve the welfare of individuals and families affected by ASD.

The evening would not have been possible with out the hard work and dedication of the Suffolk South Shore Chapter Officers and Directors, over forty fabulous raffle and Chinese Auction prizes were collected, including a 46” LCD Sony Bravia, a Nintendo Wii, a children’s bike, a weekend house in the Hamptons (courtesy of LIBOR Treasurer, Liz English), numerous, generous donations made by community retailers, restaurants and so much more!  Pictured are members of the Suffolk South Shore Chapter (l-r) Louise Grinsell, Director; Matthew Arnold, 1st Vice President; Christina Galicia, 2nd Vice President; Angela Charron, Treasurer; Manon Compitello, Director; Richard Bocchieri, Secretary, Paul Wernersbach, President and Patricia Smith, Director.
