Long Island Board of Realtors Prove
“We’re More Than Realtors”
Rebuilding Together LI Puts LIBOR Efforts and Funds to Good Use

Long Island, NY – Until recently, it took Angel DiGiovanni considerable effort to leave her home for important doctor visits to treat the numerous ailments she suffered. Thanks to the Long Island Board of Realtors (LIBOR) and the Long Island Chapter of Rebuilding Together, the wheelchair-bound Deer Park resident now has a wheelchair ramp that enables her to come and go from her home with ease. .

During a recent October morning, LIBOR Realtor® members donated their time to work alongside the Rebuilding Together LI team to build the ramp so Angel DiGiovanni is able to receive the medical attention that she needs. “LIBOR and Rebuilding Together LI have made my dream come true,” explains Mrs. DiGiovanni. “Words cannot express the gratitude that I feel to be able to leave my home to receive the medical care that I so desperately need after being home bound for so many weeks.”

The donation by LIBOR supports this year’s campaign “We’re More Than Realtors®” which is spearheaded by the LIBOR Public Relations committee. “The efforts of our members prove that ‘We’re More Than Realtors®.’ We are thrilled to support the great achievements of organizations, such as Rebuilding Together Long Island, that are committed to help Long Island” said Gil Picard, President of LIBOR. “LIBOR is much more than a professional organization; we are a community that seeks to make a difference in the neighborhoods where we do business.”

In addition to helping Rebuilding Together LI build this ramp, earlier this summer LIBOR donated $15,000 so the organization can fulfill its mission to help rebuild the homes and lives of people in need. “We are dedicated to restoring the homes of economically disadvantaged homeowners who are elderly, disabled, and/or single-parent families, so they may continue to live in comfort with dignity and independence,” said Harold Feldman, Long Island’s executive director of Rebuilding Together. “Now Ms. DiGiovanni can easily access medical treatment and go about her daily routine with the addition of a wheelchair ramp to her home.” This year alone, the organization has built 15 wheelchair ramps and more than 100 since its inception.

“Ms. DiGiovanni’s story is a wonderful example of how professional organizations, such as LIBOR, can help make a difference,” said Frank Urso, chairman of LIBOR’s public relations committee. “There is nothing more gratifying than working with amazing organizations, such as Rebuilding Together to make our communities a better place to live.” For further information about Rebuilding Together Long Island, call (877) 643-6070.
