REALTORS Help Support the Fight Against Domestic Violence
June 2008
- West Babylon, NY - On June 5, 2008,
hundreds of Long Island REALTORS® poured into the Crest Hollow Country
Club to take advantage of all the Long Island Board of REALTORS® (LIBOR)
Education Conference and Trade Expo had to offer them – great education
sessions, capacity filled exhibitor trade show displaying all sorts of
products and services that will help them grow their business, and many
networking opportunities. It is one of the largest combined Conference
and Trade Shows that takes place here on Long Island.
But the true highlight of the day was watching REALTORS® generously participate
in the Chinese Auction, which raised almost $8,000 to benefit the Coalition Against
Domestic Violence. The Mission of the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence
(NCADV) is to organize for collective power by advancing transformative
work, thinking and leadership of communities and individuals working to end the
violence in our lives. NCADV works for major societal changes necessary to eliminate
both personal and societal violence against all women and children.
The funds raised by LIBOR represent one of many initiatives from the organization’s “We’re
More Than REALTORS®…” campaign coordinated by LIBOR and
their Public Relations Committee. The campaign showcases the support
real estate agents provide to the local community and to not-for-profit
and charitable organizations.
