Former State Senator Jim Gaughran Announces Run for Congress

On Monday, former State Senator and Suffolk County Legislator James Gaughran announced his run for Congress representing the First District. The Northport Democrat will challenge incumbent Republican Nick LaLota of Amityville in 2024 for a district which currently includes the towns of Huntington, Smithtown, and northern Brookhaven, as well as the East End. Gaughran previously served as of member of the Huntington Town Board and as chair of the Suffolk County Water Authority, and was redistricted out of his Senate seat last year. Learn more.
