NY State: NYSAR Talks Co-Ops with Senate Housing Chair

NYSAR staff met with State Sen. Brian Kavanagh (D-Lower Manhattan)  last week to discuss his co-op transparency legislation ( S.2964-A/A.1778-A). As Chair of the State Senate’s Housing Committee, Kavanaugh’s bill would establish a clear timeline for boards to approve or reject applicants, as well as require a reason upon denial – similar to LIBOR-supported legislation in Suffolk County. The Assembly sponsor is Long Island’s Chuck Lavine (D-Glen Cove, Westbury, Hicksville).
