Special Election Alert: Governor Schedules Feb. 13th Vote to Fill George Santos Vacancy

Dec 6, 2023

Governor Hochul has announced that the high-stakes special election to replace the North Shore Republican will be held on Tuesday, February 13th, 2024. Candidates for both parties – as well as early voting dates and locations – will be announced in the coming days. It is increasingly clear that former U.S. Rep. and former Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi will be the Democratic choice after securing the backing of his former opponent, Governor Kathy Hochul. Republicans have several possibilities thanks to their recent local success, with most attention falling on County Legislator  Mazi Pilip (R-Great Neck), State Senator  Jack Martins ( Suozzi defeated Martins in 2016), and retired NYPD Detective Mike Sapraicone
