Congressional Special Election: Suozzi Beats Pilip 54-46, Further Shrinks GOP Majority

Democrat Tom Suozzi (D-Glen Cove) is returning to the U.S. House of Representatives after a surprisingly decisive 54-46% win over Nassau County Legislator Mazi Pilip (R-Great Neck). “What’s thinner than paper? Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., is about to find out,” NBC News analysis said bluntly. “He’s already struggling to govern with the margin he has now, which is about to shrink from a 219-212 edge to 219-213, further empowering the Democratic minority.” Suozzi’s focus on Northeast Queens was a major boost, “with 99% of scanners reporting, Suozzi received nearly 62% of the vote in Queens to Pilip’s 38%,” noted Gothamist.  Read more.
