NYSAR Lobby Day: LIBOR Members Meet 26 State Legislators

May 6, 2025

Over 40 LIBOR members joined New York State Association of REALTORS® (NYSAR) for 26 meetings with State Legislators from Queens, Nassau, and Suffolk, both Democrats and Republicans, as part of REALTORS® Lobby Day at the New York Capitol in Albany.

There was bipartisan support for new first-time homebuyer programs, increasing the housing supply, strengthening our professional standards, and closing fair housing loopholes, said NYSAR:

NYSAR-supported legislation expanding tax incentives statewide for the development of vacant properties into housing (A.6770/S.7285) has now passed both houses of the Legislature and awaits Gov. Kathy Hochul’s consideration. The bill was carried by Long Island's Assemblywoman Judy Griffin (D-Rockville Centre) and State Senator Sean Ryan (D-Buffalo).

Assemblymember Jo Anne Simon (D-Downtown Brooklyn) introduced an Assembly companion bill that would require sexual harassment prevention training for all real estate licensees in the state (A.8092/S.5780).

Assemblymember Grace Lee (D-Lower East Side) introduced an Assembly companion bill that would prohibit long-term residential listing agreements (A.8120/S.7499). Both bills had sponsors in the Senate but were not yet introduced in the Assembly.
