NYC 2025: Mamdani Meets REBNY, Leads Polls Vs. Cuomo, Sliwa & Adams

Jul 30, 2025

Poll 1: "The scandal-scarred independents running for New York City mayor stand little chance against front-runner Zohran Mamdani — even if the rivals team up against the socialist candidate, a shocking new poll found," the NY Post reported.

"Mamdani, a Queens Assemblyman and the Democratic nominee, is projected to handily win the November general election with 50% of likely voters in the latest survey, released Tuesday by Zenith Research/Public Progress Solutions. Ex-Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who has decided to continue his comeback tour after his embarrassing June primary loss to 33-year-old Mamdani, came in a distant second at 22%, while GOP nominee Curtis Sliwa pulled 13%."

Poll 2: "Mr. Mamdani, 33, has moved to meet his critics face to face. He has scheduled a meeting with Jed Walentas, the Two Trees executive who leads the Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY), and the board’s president, James Whelan, according to two people involved in the effort. It will follow meetings with other corporate executives whom he has tried to mollify," reported the New York Times.

"A recent poll paid for by the board [REBNY] showed only long-shot paths to victory for Mr. Cuomo and for Mr. Adams, who opted out of the Democratic primary after the Trump administration abandoned his federal corruption indictment. The poll, which has not been previously reported, showed that more than 60 percent of New York voters view the mayor negatively, and more than 50 percent view Mr. Cuomo negatively, according to two people briefed on the survey. In a city where Democrats outnumber Republicans six to one, those numbers bode poorly for anyone challenging Mr. Mamdani."
