To keep an active license all licensees are required to renew their license every 2 years. The license expiration date is printed on your license or can be found on your LIBOR Profile page.

Renew your license with the DOS. All license renewals must be done online and can be done up to 3 months before expiration. The DOS will no longer accept applications by mail or phone. Log-in to eAccessNY to access your account and renew your license.

Continuing Education Required Topics and Hours

All licensees must successfully complete 22.5 hours of approved continuing education.  The education must include at least 2.5 hours on the subject of ethical business practices, at least 1 hour of recent legal matters, at least 3 hours of instruction pertaining to fair housing and/or discrimination in the sale or rental of real property or an interest in real property and at least 1 hour of instruction pertaining to the law of agency except in the case of the initial two-year licensing term for real estate salespersons, 2 hours of agency related instruction must be completed within the two-year period immediately preceding a renewal.  

Effective September 21, 2022 the 22.5 hours of approved continuing education must also include two hours of instruction pertaining to cultural competency and two hours of instruction pertaining to implicit bias.

Continuing Education Exemptions

As of July 1, 2021, all exemptions from continuing education have CEASED.  All licensed salespersons, licensed brokers and licensed broker associates must now complete the CE requirements above.
